No. We deliver to your driveway free of charge. An exception would be for any deliveries made in rural areas which require additional time and fuel.
Do I need to be home when delivery is made?
No. Most deliveries made by Saunders are to clients that are not home. In this case it is requested that a check for payment be placed on the front door.

Our insurance company allows us to do driveway deliveries, and driveway deliveries only!!!!
What form of payment do you accept?
Personal checks, Visa, Mastercard, and American Express and Discover

What time will you be there?
Saunders commits to the day of delivery, but not a time or time frame. There are many variables which make up the routing schedule, including but not limited to the location, product type, and traffic. Rather than attempt to make a commitment that Saunders is unable to keep, Saunders commits only to the delivery date. However, our drivers will give you a courtesy call 30 minutes in advance.
How fast does Saunders deliver?
Deliveries can generally be made the same day or next day. An exception to this may be during the Spring or for deliveries made on Fridays. You may wish to place your order several days in advance for these time frames.

It takes firewood approximately 90 days to season before it burns optimally. Most firewood we deliver has been seasoned between 8 and 9 months.
What size is the firewood?
Pieces are already split and cut to a length of 16 -20″ inches.
Is it cheaper to buy bagged mulch?

Generally no. All of our products are bulk, and bulk is typically the more cost-effective option. Ultimately, the non-bagged product is fresher and more vibrant as well.

What type of mulch lasts longest?

There are a lot of factors at play. First, it’s meant to decompose. It works it’s way into the soil. It will have to be replaced. Weather leads to increased decomposition, as does spreading. There are too many variables to say.

How far away from the house should I put mulch?

It’s a natural product with no chemicals added. Even the dye in the colored mulch is safe for children and pets.

Should I put plastic under my mulch?

It’s up to you. It’s a personal preference thing. If you lay the mulch thick enough, that’s typically enough of a weed barrier. The plastic some people put under mulch can be perforated by weeds.

Should I water the mulch after putting it down?

Do not water the mulch for at least 48 hours after it has been laid. It needs time to cure. After that, you can water all you want.

How do I install color-enhanced mulch?

Mulch must be installed and kept moisture free for 24-36 hours (moisture can be in the form of automatic watering devices or inclement weather such as rain or snow). For ideal results, it is recommended that the mulch be installed on bright, sunny days with no forecast of rain.
Saunders Landscape Supply is not responsible for mulch that fades or washes out due to exposure to excessive water. NO REFUNDS OR EXCHANGES WILL BE PERMITTED

Do I need to pull weeds before mulching?

Do not water the mulch for at least 48 hours after it has been laid. It needs time to cure. After that, you can water all you want.

How much would a ton of gravel cover?
It depends on the size. Different types of gravel sit differently and cover the ground differently. You can get a good idea of how much a ton will cover by clicking on the type of gravel you need and using the Material Calculator.
How thick should a gravel driveway be?
It depends on how much you have down right now. If you’re starting from scratch, then you probably want about 3 inches. If you have something down already, 2 inches is probably about right.
Can you lay gravel on top of grass?
You can, but it may grow through. We recommend leveling the ground and then laying the gravel. At a minimum, you should spray to kill the grass.
Should I use plastic underneath gravel?

It’s up to you. Most of the time, especially for driveways, we recommend against it. The best thing to do is excavate, get the ground level, and use 57 Bluestone, which lets water flow through. If you have a weed barrier, that keeps water from going through. If you have a small path or decorative feature, then, by all means, use plastic.

How do I keep my gravel driveway from sinking?

It’s always going to work its way into the soil, so it will sink over time. When that happens, it’s time to get a top coat and put a bit of gravel on top to freshen it up. That works every three or four years to keep it looking good. Unfortunately, there is no real way to keep it from happening. Eventually, over a long time, the ground stabilizes and this becomes less frequent.

How many pieces of wood are in a cord?

A cord is 128 cubic feet. When stacked, it is 4 by 4 by 8. The number of pieces of wood in a cord varies, but we sell by volume, not by pieces or by weight.

Will a cord of wood fit in a pickup truck?

No. A cord of wood is 4 by 4 by 8. On average a pickup truck bed is 4 by 2 by 8. On average, a pickup truck would carry half a cord.

How long will a cord of wood last?
It depends on usage. If you use firewood as a primary heat source, it goes much faster, and some customers buy 2-4 cords a season. If you buy half a cord for a whole season so you can have the occasional burn in the fireplace, it will last.
How can I tell if firewood is seasoned?

Usually, seasoned firewood is a little darker on the ends, and a lot of the time the bark has detached.

What’s the difference between bulk and bagged topsoil?

Bulk topsoil is native to the area. It’s derived from excavation sites, it’s screened and then it sits in big piles awaiting delivery. The moisture in the topsoil sitting in piles will make the soil clump if it gets rained on (even after it’s screened). Bagged topsoil is somewhat manufactured.

Is topsoil dirt?

Yes. Dirt is any soil. Topsoil is derived from the top layer of the earth, usually the first 6-8 inches that have the most nutrients.

Can I fill holes in my yard with topsoil?
Yes. It’s excellent for filling holes and grading. It’s native to the area, so it’s just being taken from one spot and put in another.
Can you put topsoil on top of grass?
A lot of customers use our organic topsoil for overseeding in the springtime. They use it to add nutrients and give the seeds a jump start.
What’s the difference between topsoil and garden soil?
We call garden soil “organic topsoil”. It is a blend of topsoil and compost. The topsoil adds volume and the compost provides nutrients for new growth and relieves compaction.
